Base Set Pikachu (Prerelease Error Variant)

A vintage 1999 Base Set Pikachu featuring one of the notable early-print variations associated with the English Base Set. Depending on the specific copy, collectors may encounter the Red Cheeks Shadowless variation or the rarer “Ghost Stamp” printing error, where the 1st Edition stamp appears incomplete/partially missing.

Bulbapedia +1

The card features Pikachu in a forest setting with its classic Gnaw (10) and Thunder Jolt (30) attacks. The Shadowless/early-print versions are distinguished by the absence of the drop shadow around the artwork.

Collector note: The term “Prerelease Error Variant” is not a standard name for a Base Set Pikachu. The well-documented Base Set Pikachu error is generally called Ghost Stamp Pikachu, while Red Cheeks is an early-print variant often—but not officially—called an error.
